If I didn’t know better, I would have thought that this books was set in the present time. I loved The Luxe. Now, I have the knowledge of knowing that a not ALL historical fictions can be irrelatable or horrible to read and b that I need to start believing in some of the good reviews out there!

Life in New York in was very eventful. Instead of writing period dialogue, just go with how teenagers talk now and then call it an artistic choice. It felt a bit like someone dragging me by my hair toward the next book — just a little too much. I really have nothing bad to say about her because she was so true and real to herself, yet completely opposite of Elizabeth. I kind of wished the romance between said main character and her certain lover was developed. And now after i finished Luxe i find myself once again in the state of a book hangover.

I was only interested on what this book was going to contain. I pretty much disliked everyone except the two Holland sisters and in guess that’s what Anna was trying to do.
