What a badass cover too. Ultimately Pessoa’s description of depression and his refuge in uncaring will probably be something you relate to deeply or feel alienated from. Unfortunately, the tedium all too often outweighs the brilliance. Included in the auction was an unopened, dusty trunk, purchased by a college student looking for a cheap conversation piece.

For me the external world is pure sensation. But, in this case, I’m just sick of being beat up. What I’m getting at here is that I hav Oh Fernando. Fragments on their own, can be enjoyed but if you read several of these fragments you realise what a one trick pony this book really is and that it’s really not as “deep” as it first seems. Pessoa manstruates, and the world is alright.

I was honestly annoyed with Pessoa once I was two-thirds of the way through fernzndo book and I knew that this kind of book is not for me. There is a fluidity to the self which has only ever barely been hinted at in the course of literature. Lists with This Book. It’s hard to tell whether the metaphysics is bona fide or purely metafictional. Even if it’s serious, it would be ironic if only sad or self-pitying readers related to or enjoyed this work. Happiness is easy, even if it is at times short lived. So, I made it as far as pagebut I couldn’t do it.
