In rereading my review of that book, I admit to being a bit harsh; however I still stand behind my words. Douglas is pressured into doing his duty by marrying and producing an heir. Douglas Sherbrooke, Earl of Northcliffe decides that it is time for him to marry and produce an heir. Wizard’s Daughter by Catherine Coulter.

This book has a tragi-comic undertone, hugely angsty but making light of it.

For some reason, he loses all control with Alexandra, never thinking for a moment that she could be special. He insults her lack of beauty, her clothes and anything else he can think of.

I have no idea why Alexandra ever fell in love cattherine Douglas. I also didn’t appreciate how hung up he was on OW’s beauty even after he’d had sex with the heroine. I truly detest Alexandra’s character. From the beginning of this story, I was frustrated with her meek behavior and I rooted for her to stand up and fight her man-for her man!

The thing is, it’s supposed to be a Historical Romantic Comedy, and if you remember that while you read it then you will see the same magic I do.


Douglas Sherbrooke, Earl of Northcliffe, is a man besieged. He’s obsessed with collecting and returning the famous Waterloo medals to the soldiers of the great battle ofbut he refuses to tell anyone why he’s doing it.

As for Jason, he swims lie a fish, loves horses, wants to start a stud farm, still sows more wild oats than a man should be allowed, but finally meets a girl who stops him in his tracks.
