John Grisham’s legal thrillers are dense and hefty, full of twists and turns and tension. His latest novel, “Calico Joe,” is not like that at all.
Great summer “fast” read! I don’t remember having read this one before.
Joe falls into a coma and never plays baseball again. It is a story about fathers and sons and forgiveness and letting go of events in the grrisham. Doesnt’ matter-this book is a must read! His dad has never shown remorse and merely considers the injury a risk of the game. The crowds take Calico Joe to their hearts, a bright star hurtling into orbit. And there are references to the aforementioned philandering, including an exchange about the stripper for whom Warren leaves his family.
Some of the baseball stuff is pretty interesting. Warren, on the other hand, is a piece of crap in either time period.
