Just as a little child has to be lulled to sleep, so these people need the soothing lullaby of social life in order to be able to eat, drink, sleep, fall in love, etc. It’s not an introductory text and does not contain explanatory material, like in a Norton paperback for example; Marino lets the texts speak for themselves, except existnetialism places where a foreign language is quoted or a particularly obscure or obsolete idea is brought up.
