Fled from the mid-century ideas, I assume. The cover makes it look like some cheesy fantasy novel while the back makes it sound like a mail-order-bride romance or something. As a decade of printings indicate, I wasn’t the only person who loved this mccaffgey.
In later years, and possibly as a result of changing social expectations, I find her characters decreasingly engaging, which is a hell of a shame as the concepts underlying many of her stories are worth attention.
