They’re also curious, nature-connected, and zealous fighters. I think I only made it to the second one before but I think now I’ll devour any and all of the rest of the series like the blackbringer ; Fluid, precise, and lyrical, all without becoming too sophisticated for a young audience.
And men are latecomers in both worlds and will have important roles to play.
Yet it’s sprinkled methodically throughout, and readers learn everything they need to know as the plot unfolds. I was enchanted by Faeries of Dreamdark: The mock-Irish brogue works, and I liked “eejit” for “idiot.
This novel may have been marketed toward six- to nine-year-olds, but it delighted this year-old. But I must say, this was, and still is, and phenomenal book!
Still others like Magpie’s childhood friend Poppy Manygreen and the dreamdakr prince Talon Ratherstring are well-rounded and memorable in their own way. This is a well written fantasy which is very descriptive and in-depth, Magpie is a strong and independent Fairy, and this book has lovely drawings so you can picture all taylot different characters.

Taylor in March I don’t mind novels with multiple POV characters as long as the viewpoint switches at a logical endpoint, like the end of a chapter. But i found the ending weak and a bit too sickly sweet.

Although it seemed a bit long towards the end of course I had some long days in which I was pretty exhausted, so I can’t blame that on the book aloneit was a worthwhile experience.
The main character, Magp I was enchanted by Faeries of Dreamdark: Plus, aren’t the names adorable?? That was the moment when I fell in love with Blackbringer. I can only hope that her banishment leaves the potential for a return and a revenge plot one day.
In the process she discovers how she came to have strange powers that help heal a world that is slowly unraveling. Laini Taylor’s writing pulled me in, and the characters and story wouldn’t let me go. The book sets up Magpie’s powers and how they came to be. A particularly nasty demon, the Blackbringer, seems determined to attack Dreamdark, the place the world was created; Magpie and her faithful band of crows head there to warn the sleeping Djinn, Magruwen, that one of his fellow immortals has already been killed by the Blackbringer.

Not only are there faeries, djinn, and talking crows, but there are also hedge imps mostly benevolent, animal-type creatures and devils not benevolent–somewhere between mischevious and annoying to downright malevolent. Shortly after that Talon enters the plot along with another villain and their interactions create enough tension to pull me into the story. But Magruwen has grown weary of the world; in a perfectly rendered scene, Magpie has to reason with an idle god and convince him that the world is worth saving.
